Official Fee Schedule Coming Soon?

This just in from Rebecca at Viet Nam Adoption Blog

According to the Joint Council on International Children’s Services (JCICS,) an official adoption related fee schedule is to be released this month.

On the JCICS website the notice, dated September 5th states: “During his visit to Washington, D.C. in July, Department of Intercountry Adoptions Director Long informed the U.S. government that the Vietnamese government would issue an official schedule of adoption-related fees in September 2007. ”

This is very welcome news. As I said in my post back in June publishing a list of fees will go a long way toward protecting the adoption process from corruption.

  1. I think its premature to presume that we’ll get said fee schedule, unfortunately. Remember Vietnam runs on different time than we do here. When they say September, we may be looking at 2008 sometime. I really hope I’m wrong on this one because I agree it will help. I also think it will be interesting to read the comparison of the fee schedule for the US and other country’s posted fee schedules.

  2. My adoption agency had a big banquet diner for Director Long. He came to see the families that have adopted through them. I thought this spoke very highly of the agency we went through!!
Carolina Adoption Services – they were great!

  3. Heather, that’s great. I’ve heard that Dr. Long has visited many of the licensed agencies – I think it’s wonderful that he makes an effort to get to know the agencies that are working in Vietnam.
